Inspiration from the UNSC Resulution 2250

Founded in June 2019 by Audry Rusangwa, ISHAKA 2250 draws its inspiration from UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace, and Security, a resolution often little known to the very young people it seeks to empower. Recognizing similar gaps in awareness and engagement around the SDGs, ISHAKA 2250 was established to bridge these divides through education, action, and youth leadership.

In Burundi and across the globe, young people form the majority of the population, yet their voices remain largely unheard in decision-making spaces. In many places, they are absent from leadership tables, and even when present, they often lack the power and recognition needed to shape the policies that define their future.

Our Mission & Vision

Key Performance Indicators

At Ishaka2250, a Key Performance Index (KPI) is a measurable value we use to track how effectively we are achieving our mission and impact objectives. We monitor growth, measure community transformation, evaluate program effectiveness, and demonstrate accountability to partners, donors, volunteers and stakeholders.

Ishaka2250 On The Move

How We Achieve Our Goals

At ISHAKA 2250, we believe that lasting change begins with informed and empowered communities. Through a series of dynamic and inclusive workshops, we trained peer educators, youth, women, and
men to champion the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within their communities.

By using creative storytelling, interactive sketches, and learning games, participants discovered how to turn awareness into action and inspire others to do the same. Participants not only learned about the goals but also discovered how they could become agents of change within their local contexts. One of the most impactful achievements of this initiative is the creation of SDGs learning modules in Kirundi, developed to make quality education and climate awareness available to all, especially in schools and community, this approach ensures that no one is left behind in understanding and acting on the SDGs.

Community of SDG Volunteers

Making The Difference In Our Generation

Throughout the workshops and community outreach sessions, participants recognized as trusted voices and role models shared their newly gained insights with peers, sparking dialogues and mobilizing collective action for sustainable development.

The initiative concluded with public presentations of SDGs-themed sketches performed in front oflocal leaders and community members. These moments became powerful platforms for reflection and commitment, reminding everyone that achieving the SDGs is not only urgent but essential for the well-being and resilience of future generations.
