Young people in Africa are both actors and victims of conflict, but they hold the key to lasting peace. Through targeted sensitization by trusted leaders, this cycle can be broken.
Our program promotes unity with activities like inter-neighbourhood football matches and interactive games focused on YES to Peace, NO to Violence and gender equality, these events foster connections between different communities, breaking down barriers and teaching nonviolent communication.
Too often, young people are exploited as pawns in conflicts, especially those living in extreme poverty who become vulnerable to manipulation, recognizing this, ISHAKA 2250 was created totransfor m youth from passive victims into active architects of peace and sustainable development.
This initiative draws inspiration from United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250, adopted on 9 December 2015, which calls for the meaningful inclusion and participation of youth in peace and security processes as well as socio-economic and cultural development.
