United Nations Economic and Social Consultative Status

The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) grants Consultative Status to NGOs, allowing them to participate in UN discussions, submit reports, attend meetings, and contribute to global policy on economic, social, and environmental issues.

United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)

Established in 1972, UNEP coordinates the UN’s environmental activities and supports countries in implementing sustainable environmental policies. It addresses issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and sustainable development.

United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)

Adopted in 1992, the UNFCCC is an international treaty aimed at stabilizing greenhouse gas concentrations to prevent dangerous climate change. It provides the framework for global climate agreements such as the Paris Agreement.

United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD)

The UNCCD focuses on combating desertification and mitigating the effects of drought, especially in Africa. It promotes sustainable land management to restore degraded land and improve livelihoods.

Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)

The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) is a global agreement adopted in 1992 to conserve biodiversity, promote sustainable use of natural resources, and ensure fair sharing of benefits from genetic resources.
